Nanam
Why go
Filipino cuisine doesn't get nearly enough love in Auckland — and Nanam is quietly changing that. Tucked along Hurstmere Road in the heart of Takapuna, this multi-award-winning restaurant takes the bold, layered flavours of the Philippines and elevates them into something genuinely special. Blending Filipino and Spanish culinary heritage, it's the kind of place that turns a meal into an occasion, whether that's a date night, a corporate dinner, or a solo splurge at the bar.
What to expect
A menu built for sharing, though it works just as well à la carte. Expect house-made Wagyu Longganisa, signature Kare Kare short ribs, and the showstopper crispy lechon, all paired with excellent cocktails and warm, attentive service. The room has a real intimacy to it, and private dining is available for groups of 12 up to 50 — one of the better function options on the North Shore.
Modern Filipino cooking that feels confident, generous and unmistakably its own — the kind of brunch you stay through a second coffee.
