Why go

Don't be fooled by the name — Milford Motel isn't a motel at all. It's a restaurant and cocktail bar pitching itself as "Palm Springs in the middle of Milford," and on a sunny day it absolutely delivers. The huge outdoor dining area under louvred covers is the star: built for long lunches, summer dinners and lingering over cocktails. Inside, the bar leans into Californian vintage — big booths, bar seating in front of the cocktails, and big TVs playing the sport. The retro roadside-motel aesthetic carries through everything from the signage to the styling, and the food more than holds up.

What to expect

A venue built around its oversized outdoor seating area, with most of the dining sitting under the louvres. Inside, the bar feels like a different mood entirely — vintage Californian energy, booths designed for settling in, and a proper cocktail list. There's a small kids' play area in the outdoor dinning space with a wooden play kitchen and little tables, plus a kids' menu, so it works for families as well as date nights and group brunches and dinners. The dessert menu is on the short side, so save room with that in mind. Quiz night runs on Tuesdays.
