Moustache Milk & Cookie Bar | Henderson
Why go
Moustache Henderson is not a place you stumble across. It sits in a small semi industrial pocket of Henderson, and the first time you pull up it looks more like a distribution depot than a cookie shop. You go on purpose, and it is worth going on purpose.
Inside, the counters are stacked rings of marbled recycled plastic and the walls are the colour of custard. It feels less like a cookie shop than an installation you are allowed to sit in. The founder's energy about her own cookies is all over their Instagram, and the shop matches it.
What to expect
Yellow benches and beanbags, a claw machine, and a sign near the exit asking whether you want another cheeky one for the road. It is deliberately, unapologetically photogenic, and it knows exactly what it is.
Nothing is on display at the counter, so if you eat with your eyes first, that is worth knowing before you walk in. They post the limited editions on Instagram, which makes that the place to check before you drive out.
The regular cookies are cookies. The limited editions are where it gets interesting, and they rotate through the year, so what is on depends on when you go. The double cheesecake cookie, a chocolate moustache pressed into soft cheesecake, has been running for a while now and is hugely popular, so there is a good chance it is there when you are. The cookie pies belong on the same list. Order from those two and the drive west makes sense.
Open until 10pm every night, which makes it an after dinner destination rather than a daytime one. That is unusual for a cookie shop and it is half the appeal.
It passes the kid test comfortably.
