The Hotel Britomart
Why go
The Hotel Britomart is one of Auckland's most beautifully considered places to stay — a properly boutique experience where the design thinking shows up in every corner you look. Built in 2020 across ten floors and 104 rooms, it sits in the heart of Britomart with the city's best dining, shopping and the waterfront all within a few steps of the door. Warm tones, curated detailing, high ceilings and big windows in the lobby; in the rooms, clever cavity dividers for the bathroom and toilet, electric blinds, natural-fibre linens and sublime in-room products. Conde Nast Hot List 2021, and a Qualmark Sustainable Tourism Award holder — the sustainability story is real, not greenwashed.
What to expect
Rooms are intentionally compact but feel anything but cramped — every centimetre is thoughtfully used. The bathrooms sit in deep, dark tones that make you feel cocooned, a beautiful contrast to the warm, light-filled rooms. Double-glazing on every window means it stays quiet despite being in the middle of the CBD. Staff are genuinely friendly, check-in is quick and easy, and there's complimentary use of the hotel bikes if you want to explore on two wheels. Room service comes from Kingi, the hotel's restaurant downstairs — which means dinner in bed is a genuinely good idea here. Eco-friendly toiletries, recycling and considered sustainability touches throughout.
