Daily Bread | Belmont
Why go
Daily Bread Belmont is a genuinely excellent coffee stop on the North Shore — popular with commuters, locals and laptop workers for good reason. The pastries are exceptional and the space is large, relaxed and easy to settle into. One of those places that's become a local institution without trying too hard.
What to expect
Daily Bread is a chain — their Britomart store is also worth knowing — but this Belmont outpost earns its own reputation. Set in large the largest and only active shop in this small shopping strip — it's the kind of café that works for everyone. Commuters grab and go, locals set up with laptops for the morning, mum groups settle in, kids climb on the small boat outside and dogs are as welcome as anyone. The coffee is consistently excellent. Pastries are the other headline act — pain au chocolat, ham, cheese and mustard croissants, custard, sugar, or jam doughnuts — all worth it. Sandwiches are good, whole loaves of bread available to take home. Outdoor seating at the back for good days and at the front under the verandha.
